AVEDA’S COMMITMENT TO EARTH MONTH
Having celebrated Earth Day since the Company’s founding in 1978,
the activist-based brand pioneered Earth Month in April 1999. Aveda has since
raised over $14.2 million for environmental causes.

2010 AVEDA EARTH MONTH CAMPAIGN
One in seven people around the world do not have access to clean water.
Throughout the month of April, Aveda’s 2010 Earth Month campaign will unite
its network professionals and guests globally to raise $3.5 million to protect
clean water. The Collega Aveda network in Canada seeks to raise $325,000.
Our key fundraising projects include our fourth annual Walk for Water held across the nation on April 22, 2010 and our inaugural Wine for Water fundraising event held in Toronto on March 25, 2010

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
For the third consecutive year, WaterCan is Aveda’s exclusive Earth Month partner in Canada. WaterCan is a registered Canadian Charity that provides the world’s poorest people with access to clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene education. Working with local partner organizations in Africa, WaterCan supports small-scale, community-driven projects that dramatically improve the quality of life in rural areas and urban slums.

2009 CANADIAN EARTH MONTH RESULTS
The successful third-annual Canada-wide Earth Month 2009 campaign resulted in over $291,000 raised and engaged
close to 2,000 walkers across 17 cities. In 2009, the motivating event went international as Aveda, inspired by our landmark efforts in Canada, initiated a series of walks in the US and major cities through Europe to raise awareness, funds and excitement of the need to protect clean water. Thank you to every Aveda salon owner and employee as well as friends and family members who supported Earth Month efforts for WaterCan, our Canadian partner. It was a huge task and we achieved it together. Through our efforts, we have helped improve the lives of 11,646 individuals in eastern Africa.
